About Me

My sustained investigation focuses on the transcendence of moments in time. I have attempted to capture figures when they seem to be caught in a dream, and through this, I hope to transfuse their dreams, as well as their environments, into a united "dream" on the canvas. Some questions that have guided my process have been what does it look like when someone is dreaming? How can I express this in a painting? How can I take transcend their expression and environment into something mystical and somewhat other-wordly? With each painting, I considered what colors I could focus on most that would transcend even their clothes into something dream-like. Similarly, background has been a challenge and also a benefit to my mystified portfolio. In most of my paintings, there is no definite background. In some, I feature colors like blue to suggest sky or green for grass, but I stay away from detail. This helps to remove the figures from any place or time to offer the viewers a feeling of being lost in a moment in time.
